Police officer struck by car while responding to 911 call in Orange

A police officer was struck by a car while responding to a 911 call in Orange, police say.
Police say 10-year veteran of the Orange Police Department's K9 unit, Chris Brown was struck by the car Thursday night on the southbound side of Marsh Hill Road near the Outback Steakhouse just after 10 p.m.
 
Police say Brown was assisting the fire department with a disabled pickup truck that was smoking.
When Brown arrived on scene police say he approached the driver side of the disabled pickup when a white-colored 2013 Nissan Rogue traveling south in the left turn lane struck him.
Brown was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with injuries to his lower body. He was released from the hospital and is expected to be OK. 
Police say the driver, 76-year-old Arthur Schultz of Stratford remained on the scene and is cooperating with officials.
State police are investigating the incident.
