Bridgeport couple interrupts attempted home invasion

Posted: Updated:

A Bridgeport couple interrupted an attempted home invasion -- and the encounter was caught on camera.

Tanya Callazo and her husband Arthur say the alert came from an app they have connected to security cameras on their property.

Police say a person of interest in burglaries in the East End was trespassing in the couple's backyard on Third Street.

Tanya Collazo says she shouted out the back window that she was about to release her pit bulls and the suspect took off running down the driveway and headed east toward Connecticut Avenue.

Tanya Collazo says she doesn't have dogs, but was glad the suspect didn't know she was bluffing.

Police say the couple's story is an excellent teaching tool for the general public and should encourage people to install surveillance cameras.

sorry to interrupt
