Police: Drunk driver fatally strikes pedestrian in Bridgeport

A man was hit and killed by a car while crossing a Bridgeport street early Friday morning, and the driver is now facing charges, according to police.
They say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Barnum Avenue.
The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma.
Moniece McNeil, 27, was arrested for second-degree manslaughter and insufficient insurance. Police say she was intoxicated when she struck the man.
"Don't do it," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald, talking about drunk driving. "This is an example of how it doesn't only affect you, it affects the lives of others."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Bridgeport Police Department.
