Four people were shot outside of the Bridgeport courthouse Monday, and police say three people are now in custody.
The incident happened outside the Golden Hill Street Superior Courthouse just after 12 p.m. Police say ShotSpotter alerted police of a shooting in the area at 12:12 p.m.
Witnesses said they heard as many as 20 gunshots in quick succession.
Police say the victims were sitting in a car parked in front of the courthouse when multiple shooters opened fire from another vehicle, then drove away. They believe this was a targeted attack.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said this incident may be connected to Sunday's shooting near Greene Homes Housing Complex that left 18-year-old dead Myreke Kenion dead.
"No homicide, no shooting, is going to go unanswered in this city by the Bridgeport Police Department. Again, this is not something that was random. It appears this was targeted and related to something that may have happened over the weekend as well," said Ganim.
Four people were taken away in ambulances -- three in stretchers. Two of the victims needed surgery, but all four victims are expected to survive.
