'The show must go on:' Connecticut musician performs for audiences on Facebook Live

Live concerts may be canceled but that isn't stopping one local musician from performing.
Musician and concert promoter Ed Train has been organizing shows three times a week for decades. He says despite the coronavirus forcing everyone to stay home, he has been able to perform for audiences online.

Train already had a head start on performing virtually as he has been live streaming his shows to Facebook for years under the name Jam TV.

"A lot of people are homebound or they just don't go out or they have kids and they sign in," Train says. "So we often get 600 to 700 viewers."

In the weeks since the coronavirus hit, he says that numbers have jumped to more than 2,000 viewers.

He says people from all around the world have been sending him comments thanking him for keeping the music alive during the pandemic.

Train also says the comments section allows viewers to find personal connection through a digital space. He says that is the most important aspect of his virtual shows.

"Music is actually secondary," Train says. "What people actually get together for is to get together."
Jam TV is live on Facebook every Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
