County Executive Steve Bellone announced the death of nine more Suffolk residents during his daily COVID-19 briefing on Friday, bringing the total to 93.

Bellone announces deaths of 9 more Suffolk residents from COVID-19; total at 93

County Executive Steve Bellone announced the death of nine more Suffolk residents during his daily COVID-19 briefing on Friday, bringing the total to 93.
He says it was “heartbreaking” to have to make announcements each day about the deaths of Suffolk residents.
There were 1,140 more positive COVID-19 tests in the county in the last day, bringing the total to 10,303. Bellone says there are 1,298 patients hospitalized, with 401 in ICU beds.

Bellone says supplies at Suffolk hospitals were “limited” and he is looking to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s executive order on the redistribution of supplies to the hardest hit areas.
In this time of crisis, Bellone says the business community has been stepping up to help out whenever it can. He pointed to Uber Eats, which is providing 2,000 meals to workers at Long Island Community Hospital.

  • Bellone: "We have seen in times of emergency and times of crisis, our response has been to come together and support one another." He says he is seeing much generosity from the business community.
  • Bellone: Uber Eats working with Suffolk to offer to Long Island Community Hospital workers 2,000 meals, $25 each. The value is around $50,000. 
  • There were 1,400 additional cases of COVID-19 over last 24 hours.
  • Total confirmed cases climb to 10,303. There are 401 patients in ICU beds, an increase of 87.
  • There are 648 hospital beds available in Suffolk, 43 ICU beds. A total of 93 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Suffolk hospitals.
  • Executive Bellone announces death of nine additional residents. It brings the county's death toll to 93.
  • Bellone: PPE "supplies are limited."
  • "Patients are going to go where they need to go to be treated."
