A Bridgeport woman is calling on state prison officials to release her children's father early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Melissa Rivera says her boyfriend is being held at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in New London, and she's worried he'll catch the virus.
State and local leaders say they support efforts to release some prisoners early.
Rivera says her boyfriend is set to go free next month.
The ACLU of Connecticut has filed a lawsuit to force the state to reduce the number of people in state prisons and jails.
