Stratford fire leaves 3 injured and a dog dead
An investigation continues today into a Stratford house fire that injured three people and killed the family dog.
Officials say the fire began Sunday morning just after 8 a.m. on Hancock Street.
Stratford Assistant Fire Chief Steven Alesevich says they were able to get the fire under control within minutes.
“Once crews got inside and opened the doors, that allowed a little oxygen to our avail,” said Alesevich. “That makes our job a little bit easier because its a lot easier to find the fire location and quickly get water on it.”
Officials say it took almost two dozen firefighters to get control of the flames.
The three people injured were sent to Bridgeport Hospital with various injuries. Police confirm that one person has been released from the hospital.
Stratford firefighters say a dog died at the scene. The firefighters tried to perform CPR on the dog, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
