(02/17/06) STRATFORD ? Officials in the town of Stratford are taking a proactive approach to gang violence with a planned April summit.
Leaders held a meeting at Stratford Town Hall Friday to open lines of communication about the upcoming summit. According to leaders, gang-related issues have not become a serious problem in Stratford. However, officials say it is important for people who work with children to recognize the signs of gang activity.
The summit will be held April 1 at Flood Middle School. Only professionals who work with children will attend the event. A separate meeting for parents will be held afterwards at a date and time to be determined.
