The Stratford YMCA is offering a virtual learning center for students not ready to head back to the classroom during the pandemic.
With teachers now being able to get vaccinated, Gov. Lamont is pushing for students to return to the classroom full time as quickly as possible. However, kids in Stratford are back in the classroom four days a week, but 32% of families have chosen to stick with remote learning full time.
The YMCA in Stratford and all the Central Connecticut Coast YMCAs are offering virtual learning centers. The centers can accommodate around five students, from kindergarten through sixth grade. Organizers say the small groups make parents feel comfortable.
Organizers say the children get the classic Y experience where they can learn and play.
The Stratford YMCA is also distributing grab-and-go meals to accommodate working parents.
