Four candidates serving Bridgeport, Trumbull and Monroe battled for the Democratic party nomination in the 22nd state Senate District on Tuesday.
Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox said she received the Democratic party's endorsement and will fight for the seat on the general election ballot in November.
The seat was previously held by Sen. Marilyn Moore, who announced her retirement in May.
The four-way race with Tyler Mack, Scotts Burns, former Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and Gadkar-Wilcox was one of the most competitive races in the state.
News12’s Frank Recchia was at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center, where election workers counted ballots from the dozens of polling places across the district.
