A former Madison Middle School teacher in Trumbull has been charged with risk of injury to a minor, district officials said Tuesday.

That teacher has not been identified.

In an email sent to parents, Superintendent Dr. Martin J. Semmel said that when the district learned of the allegation, they initiated an internal investigation and the teacher was placed on administrative leave. Officials also informed police and the Department of Children and Families.

Semmel said the individual resigned on April 2 and is no longer employed by the district. He says the district is fully cooperating with police.

News 12 has reached out to police for additional information, along with the name of the teacher, and is waiting to hear back.
