WalletHub's 2022 survey ranked New York as third to last in the 50 states.
Coming in last was New Jersey.

WalletHub said it compared all of the U.S. states when it came to affordability, quality of life and health care.
New York did come in first place as having the most museums and theaters per capita, and it came in third behind Hawaii and California and highest life expectancy.
