A shooting at a Stamford grocery store Wednesday left one man dead and one in custody.
Benton O'Neill Dawes, 45, owner of Cool Runnings café, was charged with murder after police say he shot and killed 45-year-old Vaness Ford. According to police, an argument broke out at around 10 p.m. at the Two Brothers grocery on Stamford's west side. Police say one shot was fired and Ford died at the scene.
Police are still investigating the shooting but say the two had an ongoing dispute concerning Dawes' bar. They say the murder is not gang related.
Dawes is being held on $500,000 bond and police say he has no past history of violence.
