The Black Rock Castle was a neighborhood staple in Bridgeport until owner Patrick Clyne sold the business in 1996. More than 25 years later, Clyne is returning to Bridgeport with
The Castle, Black Rock.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday to welcome the restaurant to Black Rock.
Clyne moved The Castle from Fairfield to a spot on Fairfield Avenue he says he has had his eyes on for years.
"Bigger bar, bigger kitchen. More parking, right on the corner of Courtland Avenue here, which is beautiful," said Clyne.
He says he has been kept busy since his soft launch in July and was working right up until Tuesday for the grand opening.
Clyne says when he opened the original Black Rock Castle back in 1989, it kicked off an explosion of growth for Black Rock.
"The neighborhood was very, very quietish. A lot of people know back then, and The Castle opened up, and then businesses started to flow in -- like Arizona Flats, and the Casu Club was in there and then all of a sudden you had bars and restaurants and that was good for Black Rock, because Black Rock is certainly my favorite place to live and to own a business," he said.
The Castle, Black Rock is offering trivia Wednesday nights and live music on the weekends.
