One of the biggest names in entertainment will soon be coming to Bridgeport as a new music venue is slated to open in 2025.

Howard Saffan, who heads the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater, says "a mega concert venue" to be called The Fillmore will allow for hundreds of events a year.

He says it will be located on South Frontage Street, adjacent to the Amphitheater and the Total Mortgage Arena.

"And the beauty of it is that you could have a concert at the Fillmore and the Amphitheater at the same time or the Arena and the Fillmore at the same time, so it's really a wonderful partnership between all three entities," said Saffan. "It makes Bridgeport the entertainment capital of Connecticut."

The mayor says it will be a big boost for the economy.

"A Fillmore in the City of Bridgeport with another five or 600 jobs right here in downtown Bridgeport in this entertainment district -- it's phenomenal," said Mayor Joe Ganim.

They say the new venue comes as the result of a partnership between Live Nation, the Oak View Group and the Amphitheater.
