A person was injured and hospitalized following a crash early Sunday morning in Danbury.

It happened just before 5 a.m. on Wooster Heights Road near Lee Farms. First responders found a severely damaged car that had struck a tree but no one inside.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to search the area near Lee Farms while police searched the surrounding roads. The driver was located 700 feet from the crash 10 minutes later and taken to a hospital.

Officials say because the temperature was 33 degrees, there was a heightened risk of developing hypothermia.

Details surrounding the crash, the victim's status or why the person left the vehicle were not immediately clear.
