A 14-year-old boy was reunited with the people who saved his life Monday in Bethpage as Nassau County honored three officers and two medics.
Jonathan Rodriguez was in cardiac arrest on March 9 when the Nassau officers and medics ran into the Oceanside home.
"When you hear a call like that come over, everyone kicks into gear and shows up and does their job," says Officer Raymond Mantovani.
Mantovani, Gianfranco Apath and Christopher Dreschsel were honored alongside medics Robert Sutto and Samantha Santiago by the Police Benevolence Association and Nassau legislators for their quick work to save Rodriguez.
"They are heroes, they are heroes of my life," says Aaron Rodriguez, the father of Jonathan Rodriguez.
All five of those heroes met with Jonathan Rodriguez for the first time since they saved his life.
The teenager says he is doing much better, and wants to keep in touch with the officers.
"I'm so blessed, honestly, it's amazing to have an opportunity again just because of them," Jonathan Rodriguez says.
