The community in Norwalk rallied together to help veterans during the holiday season.

The Pastime Athletic and Social Club held its monthly dinner Wednesday night to raise money for the Catch a Lift Fund, an organization helping post-9/11 combat injured vets regain their mental and physical health.

"I think in a lot of ways they’ve been forgotten," co-organizer Joe Gallo says. "I think that Catch a Lift is an example of what non-military people can do to help those who went over and served and unfortunately suffered injuries."

Organizers at the Pastime club say between now and next August, they're hoping to raise enough money to help as many local veterans as they can.

“It’s a really great event," Pastime Athletic and Social Club President Thomas Doyle says. "We feel it’s the best way to be a part of this community."
