About 4000 people attended a cancer fundraiser at Stamford Hospital?s Bennett Cancer Center Sunday.
The event marks the 12th year for the Hope in Motion Bennett Cancer Center Walk, Run and Ride. Organizers say the event has raised nearly $7 million over the years.
Participants took part in a 5K trek ? a distance of about 3.1 miles.
Officials say the event has grown over the years. In addition to the nearly 4,000 participants, more than 200 volunteers arrived early Sunday to lend a hand in the day?s preparation.
Cancer survivor Charry Boris of Stamford said the event is about fulfilling personal goals and remembering the victims who passed. ?It?s about finishing what you started and doing it for those who didn't get a chance to,? she said.
