Some members of the Throgs Neck community spent Saturday cleaning up the streets along the St. Patrick's Day parade route ahead of Sunday's festivities.
Thanks to the efforts of state Sen. Jeff Klein (D-The Bronx), a street sweeper truck was sent to clean East Tremont Avenue, which will be lined up with observers Sunday. Klein also provided a graffiti removal crew to scrub away the spray paint along the facades of local shops.
Business owners in the area hope the preparations made ahead of Sunday's celebration will result in more customers coming through the door, bringing a much-needed boost to their sales.
"Nobody wants to go to a messy store or a messy area," says store manager Sammy Libidi. "I hope tomorrow is going to be good."
