Thunderstorms soaked the region, prompted flash flood advisories and left behind a path of destruction.
Monday's heavy rain flooded Kings Highway near the Cumberland Farms in Fairfield, which officials were forced to block off.
Main and Federal streets in Bridgeport were also flooded.
Meanwhile, on Thompson Street, a home was flooded because of the rain
"Every time the drain outside gets flooded, water comes into our basement and starts flooding our basement as well," the homeowner says.
In Brookfield, a tree limb came crashing down near a shed and a lightning strike was to blame for a backyard brush fire.
