The Town of Trumbull was recognized on Tuesday by the National Weather Service as a StormReady community.
A ceremony was held at Trumbull Town Hall with special guests from the National Weather Service and the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Emergency management departments across the state work with the National Weather Service to give accurate weather reports and updates. Towns who meet the StormReady criteria can become eligible for the program.
Trumbull First Selectman Vicki Tesoro says the Emergency Management Department keeps the town safe.
“That’s the number one priority in any town because without that you just can't feel safe in your community,” says Tesoro.
Trumbull joins 13 other towns in the state with this recognition, including Bridgeport and Ridgefield.
