A massive road-widening project on Route 7 begins in Wilton Wednesday and is expected to take three years to complete.Surveyors and contractors scurried to put finishing touches on early construction between Wolfpit Road and Olmstead Hill Road before the major project begins. The $140 million expansion will widen Route 7 between Danbury and Norwalk and is expected to take three years to complete.The Department of Transportation (DOT) says the project is meant to ease area congestion. The DOT added that there will be some delays as construction continues but promised that one lane will always be open in each direction.
