United Illuminating is asking the state Siting Council to reconsider its proposal to build a new power line from Fairfield to Bridgeport.
The Siting Council rejected the plan last month by a 5-3 vote.
This came after years of back and forth over the lines that would reach 145 feet in the air.
U.I. made this proposal, citing an intense need for upgraded transmission capabilities and claiming the council did not meet its obligations to give reasons for rejecting the plan.
Many residents in Fairfield and Bridgeport have, instead, asked for an underground power line.
U.I has said that placing the lines underground would inflate the budget by a half-billion dollars to the cost of the project - money that would be passed on to consumers.
