The University of New Haven men's basketball team made history Monday, playing its first game as a Division I program.
The team has been around since 1961 and moved up from Division II to the highest level of college sports over the summer.
A bus took 55 students from campus to the game, which is again at UConn - a team that is among the favorites to win its third national title in four years, starting the season ranked fourth in the country.
Because of NCAA transition rules, UNH will not be eligible to play in the NCAA Tournament until the 2028-29 season.
However, the firsts continue on Friday, when U-N-H hosts Columbia for its first-ever Division One home game...with Penn State then coming to campus on Saturday.
