Relatives of 24-year-old Heriberto Marquez held a candlelight vigil on Sunday morning in downtown Bridgeport.
Marquez was killed in a shooting near the corner of Iranistan Avenue and Hanover Street in 2020, according to police. Family members say he was a cousin of 22-year-old Karla Bermudez, who was shot to death along with her unborn child the following day.
Marquez’s loved ones say he was just beginning to live when his life was cut short.
"He wasn't even able to reach his goals, have children, get married, none of that- because all of that was taken,” said his mother, Elizabeth Delgado.
"Three years later and not having any information hurts. If it was your family, you would want justice,” said his sister, Ashley Marquez.
