A Weston woman is raising money to buy generators for Ukrainians with the help of her brother who lives in the war-torn country.
Iryna Akolzina's brother Pavlo has a group of pet supply stores in a community that has not yet seen fighting amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Akolzina is raising money to buy generators since other cities no longer have power, along with other emergency supplies.
"The scariest part is, we don't know what is going to happen next and I think generators are essential," she said. "I told them to buy candles at the very beginning of the war. Electricity is one of my concerns, I said 'This is war, you have to be prepared.'"
She is using her brother's business connections to get things done as quickly as possible.
