News 12 visited Earthplace in Westport on National Bird Day to hear how it gives birds a home.
The nonprofit organization is dedicated to the conservation of birds.
The enclosure is currently under renovation to create new spaces for birds.
Veronica Swain, director of education and conservation at Earthplace, says they provide homes for the birds who cannot be released back into the wild.
“If they can't be released back into the wild, it's usually because they're unable to hunt so they need to have a place where they can have free room and board essentially,” Swain said. “But they do work for us in a way where they provide information and education for people who want to know more about birds, who want to see birds up close."
The new and improved enclosure is set to open this spring.
