The beginning of the Westport Burger Contest kicked off on Friday.

The first day of the contest took place at the Match Burger Lobster.

More than 18 restaurants are participating, and the town's residents will get to judge.

Second Selectwoman Andrea Moore proclaimed the month of March as Westport Burger Month.

"Our restaurants are vibrant, and we have a whole bunch of terrific restaurants in town," Moore said. "So this is just another way to highlight those restaurants and to bring more people to our town, not only to eat but to shop and enjoy our wonderful town."

The contest will run for the entire month of March.
