A Westport lawyer?s license has been suspended for 120 days, following accusations that she didn't pay back tens of thousands of dollars to clients she was unable to help. At her most recent disciplinary hearing, Maria Tomasky agreed to give up her adoption law career after the judge cited her for lack of communication with her clients. She also must give full refunds to any current adoption clients and transfer her files to them. Senator Bill Finch (D-Bridgeport) says new legislation could help make the process easier for couples looking to expand their families through adoption. He suggests legislation that would provide free health care and college tuition for families who adopt a child from Connecticut.
