A Westport man arrested for possession of child pornography last Friday was an employee for Westport Weston Family YMCA since 2011.
For the last three years, Brian Myers had primarily worked in the Kids Club and at birthday parties, according to YMCA officials.
“At this stage of the investigation, we have no reason to believe that any of the alleged pornography involved members or participants of our Y,” said YMCA in a statement to News12.
Police say they received a tip Myers had a questionable search history on his shared computer.
He was questioned at his home where he admitted to police, he had child porn on his cellphones and laptops, according to Westport police.
Meyers posted a $30,000 bond and will be at the Stamford Superior Court on July 5.
In a statement to News 12 the Westport Weston YMCA said the following.
“We were deeply dismayed and disturbed to recently learn of the arrest of Brian Myers, a now former staff member, who has been charged with possession of child pornography. We will continue to support the Westport police department in its investigation. At the Westport Weston Family YMCA (WWFY), the safety and well-being of children in our care always has been and always will be a top priority. We are committed to providing a safe environment to every person who enters our doors—most importantly children who are entrusted to our care. We have a series of measures in place to keep kids safe.“
