? Fire officials and state police are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a Westport woman Sunday.
Acting Fire Marshal Ed Zygmant says a neighbor, whose husband tried to rescue the victim, reported the fire on Lowlyn Road. The woman, whose name has not been released, was transported to Norwalk Hospital where she later died, according to officials. Neighbors say she was a quiet woman in her 50s.
Zygmant is examining a smoke detector, which he says was not working.
