Wolcott man facing charges for alleged role in Jan. 6 insurrection

Richard Markey, of Wolcott, faced a judge Monday. Federal officials say Markey assaulted a federal officer and is also charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area.

A Connecticut man is facing charges for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
Richard Markey, of Wolcott, faced a judge Monday. Federal officials say Markey assaulted a federal officer and is also charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area.
They also say there's video evidence of Markey hitting officers with a baton and punching them.
More than 1,000 people have been arrested in connection to this insurrection.
