Word Alive Bible Church hosted an Easter egg Hunt this morning at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.
This is the church’s fourth event. The last two years it was cancelled due to COVID. Parents and kids say they were happy to be outside enjoying the festive event.
"We just want to be a blessing to the community," said Artie Kassimas, pastor at Word Alive Bible Church. "Church is not a place where people come and just get yelled at all the time, it's a church that we give back to the community. so that's why we're doing this."
“We knew it would be a great event, so when we saw it, we came right out," added Simone Morris of Norwalk.
Mayor of Norwalk Harry Rilling kicked off the event at 10 a.m.
"This is a fun time," Rilling said. "You see all these young kids coming out with their parents, nice family activity, and everybody had been cooped up for so long, and isolated. And this just gets them out, fresh air, it’s wholesome.”
The Easter Bunny made a special appearance, as well as music from the Christian radio station, K-LOVE.
Children who participated found 5,000 eggs and received a goody bag.
