The state Education Department released the scores from the newly revised math tests Wednesday.
According to the state Board of Education, Bronx students in first through fourth-grade did very well on the exam. However, state officials say students in grades five through eight didn?t score so high. Approximately 52 percent of eighth-grade students showed serious academic problems and didn?t meet all the standards.
Schools Chancellor Joel Klein says the board is now looking into some solutions to address the middle school math drop. Klein adds that he knows work needs to be done but believes Bronx students are up to the challenge.
