Fire destroyed an 18th century barn in New Canaan Sunday night, police say.
All that remains of the wooden structure are a few scorched posts following a 7:45 p.m. fire on South Avenue, officials say.
Dozens of firefighters arrived to put it out, and a home and cottage located on the same two-acre property both escaped harm. Tax records show they were built in 1790.
The embers caused several brush fires in the area, but nearby homes also remained safe.
The state fire marshal is assisting the investigation.
