Two international organizations with ties to Connecticut are helping victims in the Philippines after a volcano eruption.
Stamford-based Americares says it has responded to earthquakes in Puerto Rico and now the volcano eruption in the Philippines.
The organization says its team in Manila was on the ground immediately to help victims of the volcano. It says its biggest concern is the poor air quality.
Americares says it helps hundreds of thousands of people every year.
Fairfield-based Save the Children is also helping victims in the Philippines, and says 25,000 people have been relocated to evacuation centers.
