A 2-year-old is lucky to be alive this evening after a driver found him wandering down a busy street late last night.
Neighbors say the child walked out the back door of his house on Wayne Street around 10 p.m.
Bridgeport police say a driver saw the 2-year-old boy crossing the street last night and stopped to help.
Detectives say the toddler's parents thought he was sleeping when he wandered out of their house and into the road. The child's father, Gilson Xavier, didn't know his son was missing and was arrested after the boy was brought home.
The Department of Social Services has released the child to another family member.
