It was a proud day for the Stamford Police Department Tuesday where five officers were promoted to leadership positions.
A total five officers were promoted with three officers moved up to sergeant, one to lieutenant and one to captain.
Mayor David Martin swore in all five officers and wished them luck in the new responsibilities that come with their new ranks.
"A lot of people believe that you're being promoted as a recognition for what you have done. While that's completely understandable and to a degree true, that's not the main truth," says Mayor Martin. "You're promoted because we have a hope and an expectation that you will do more for the future in your new position than you've done in the past."
The Chief of Police, as well as friends and family were also on hand for the ceremony.
