A fleet of 50
e-scooters are coming to Fairfield this spring as the town tries out a one-year pilot program with Bird scooters.
Fairfield's
Community and Economic Development director
says he is looking forward to the Bird scooters set to make their way downtown
in late May.
The electric
scooters, which users rent using a phone app and drop off wherever their
destination happens to be, are part of a one-year pilot program.
Some Fairfield
residents say a bit of easier transportation would make a trip downtown even
more enticing.
First-time users
required to verify they're over 18 and watch a quick training
course. Helmets are also required.
Bird riders
"unlock" the scooters with the mobile app by paying a $1 fee and pay
15 cents per minute after that.
