A 72-year-old Bridgeport man died Wednesday morning after being struck by a driver on Old Town Road.
Police say Albert Youle was heading out for coffee when he was struck by 28-year-old Christina Watson, who was driving a Toyota Camry. They say Youle went up and over the vehicle's windshield and landed in the street.
Authorities say he was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he later died.
His wife Shirley says her husband just had hip surgery in March and had trouble crossing the street. They were married for 41 years.
"I told him it's dangerous because he expects people to stop," she says.
Police say he was not in the crosswalk and that the driver is cooperating fully with their investigation. Youle leaves behind one daughter and two grandsons.
