A 911 call captured the moments after dynamite exploded in Bridgeport and injured a woman.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. last Thursday on Lindley Street.
Police say a 30-year-old woman mistook the dynamite for a candle during a power outage and lit the fuse. A terrified child made the 911 call moments later.
Officials say the dynamite was left in a basement drawer by a previous owner.
The woman, who suffered serious injuries to her hands and face, was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital, and then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital. She's still recovering.
While the 911 call refers to the explosive as firecrackers, police did confirm that it was a quarter-stick of dynamite. A bomb squad detonated a second device found in the house.
No charges have been filed because the family had no knowledge of dynamite in the home.
