There’s a new push in White Plains to get people with disabilities to the polls on Election Day.
Election Day is less than a month away, and disability rights advocates are joining forces in an effort to get Westchester residents with disabilities revved up and ready to head to the polls.

The nonprofit Rev Up Westchester sponsored its second annual Empowering the Disability Vote workshop at the Greenburgh Public Library.

The educational session focuses on inclusion and accessibility at the polls, and why it’s important for people with disabilities cast their ballot.

Attendees even got a chance to see a voting machine that will be used at the polls.

Disability rights advocates say there are numerous barriers preventing people with disabilities from going out to vote.

They say the plan to make an even bigger push to get out the vote next year ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Advocates say people with disabilities are the largest growing voting bloc in Westchester County.
