Police say a motorcycle race through the streets of Bridgeport ended abruptly when one of the bikes smashed into a police cruiser early Wednesday morning.

According to investigators, the crash took place near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Albion Street at around 1 a.m. Although the cruiser was not badly damaged, one of the motorcycles had to be towed from the street. No one was hurt in the incident.

Both motorcycle riders were ticketed and released.
