Jalayjah Douglas, an 11-month-old who had an active Silver Alert out for her, has been “located safely” according to Bridgeport police.
Authorities say the infant, who is in foster care in New Haven, was visiting Bridgeport Friday evening when her biological father took her from her legal guardian without permission.
“This is still an active investigation and more to follow, but the child has been found safely,” according to a statement from police.
The father has been identified as 30-year-old James Douglas, of Bridgeport. He lost custody of his daughter in March.
There was no word on the investigation into Douglas’s whereabouts. He was described as a heavy-set Black man who was driving a four-door silver compact vehicle.
