Energy-efficient LED bulbs are now in every streetlight in the Town of Babylon.

Crews have spent the last four months installing the bulbs in 1,300 lamps.

Town Supervisor Richard Schaffer says the lights will cut energy use, lower maintenance costs and improve public safety. They're expected to save $20 million over the next 20 years.

The conversion cost about $3 million.

The new fixtures last 15 years longer than the previous ones.
