The Barnum School in Bridgeport announced it would be closed today, but provided no explanation as to why.

The elementary school made the announcement on its Facebook page Saturday, and announced it will reopen again on Tuesday.

Michael J. Testani, superintendent of Bridgeport Schools, wrote in a letter on Oct. 2 that staff and students should remember to be careful at social gatherings and to wear masks. 

Testani says recent COVID-19 cases at schools in the city were not transmitted inside the schools, but that contact tracing shows most cases in the district have been linked to social gatherings outside of school.
