A Bridgeport native and basketball coach is helping to inspire kids through his summer basketball camp.
Shawn Mobilio, head boy's basketball coach at Pomperaug High School in Southbury, runs the Slamma Jamma Basketball Camp.
Each year he invites a group of kids from Bridgeport through a free scholarship program.
"Having fun is what we do. We teach the game the right way, we bring guest speakers from college level to high school level," says Mobilio. "Even professional level, so we're just trying to bring the best experience that these kids could have so they could have a lasting relationship with Slamma Jamma basketball camp."
Everyone involved with the camp tells News 12 they love being part of it.
"I feel it's very important for me because it's like my future and my dream," says Aiden Daniels.
"I love seeing the little kids get better and I love their intensity and their happiness on the court.," says Antonio Demoura.
