A bill that would regulate beach fees and access for out-of-town visitors will not be getting a public hearing or debate this year.

The fight over visitor fees gained steam in 2020 when many communities limited beach access in the summer to residents only.

Planning and Development Committee Chairwoman Cristin McCarthy Vahey says another bill calling for a study on the impact of beach fees will likely be sent to the full legislature.
